Twins manager Paul Molitor told reporters on Monday that Phil Hughes is penciled in as his Opening Day starter.
In his first season with the Twins the 28-year-old Hughes performed well posting a 3.52 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and a 186/16 K/BB ratio. He totaled 209 2/3 innings of work.
The Twins rewarded Hughes for his efforts giving him a three-year extension worth $42 million in mid-December.
