Everth Cabrera had a down 2014 season but that has not stopped the Orioles from working towards a contract with the infielder.
A deal for Cabrera may not get done this week according to general manager Dan Duquette even as it was reported earlier this week that the two sides were close to a one-year deal.
Off the field problems have marred Cabrera in recent years but the Orioles seem to be willing to take a chance on the 28-year-old who hit .232/.272/.300 across 90 games last season.

Meanwhile the Orioles are not expected to have fellow infielder Paul Janish around when the season starts.
Janish will miss the next 6-8 weeks after undergoing surgery on his right elbow. That time table would guarantee that Janish would begin the season on the disabled list. He was already facing an uphill battle to make the Orioles roster.
