The Twins have signed pitcher Tim Stauffer to a one-yer deal worth $2.2 million.
Stauffer, 32, spent last year with the Padres posting a 3.50 ERA and a 67/23 K/BB ratio across three starts and 41 relief appearances. He could be used as a swing-man for the Twins. He was the fourth overall pick of the 2003 MLB draft.
Another former first round pick has been sent to Triple-A by the Twins.
Chris Parmelee passed though waivers unclaimed and will remain with the Twins. The 26-year-old hit just .256/.307/.384 last year with seven homers and 28 RBI in 87 games. He could see action at some point this year.
