The agent of Josh Johnson says that the right hander underwent minor elbow surgery Tuesday morning to remove bone spurs.

Dr. James Andrews performed the surgery and no other issues are said to be found with Johnson’s elbow ligament according to MLB Trade Rumors. Johnson will resume throwing in five weeks and should have plenty of time to get ready for spring training.

The 29-year-old Johnson made 16 starts this season compiling a 6.20 ERA. Johnson is likely to sign a one-year deal in free agency and hope to reestablish his value.

Johnson’s agent says that the he would consider re-signing with the Blue Jays if they make him an offer.
