Braves pitcher Brandon Beachy is expected to join the team around mid-season. On Friday the 26-year-old Beachy threw batting practice.

Friday’s session was the latest step forward for Beachy as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery. Thus far Beachy has not run into any problems since he began throwing in spring training.

In 13 starts last season Beachy compiled a 5-5 record, a 2.00 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP.

With Beachy missing the start of the season Julio Teheran won the fifth spot in the Braves rotation. In his 4 starts Teheran has a team worst 5.48 ERA and 1.57 WHIP. Teheran had his best outing of the season in his last start at Colorado when he went seven innings allowing a lone run.
