On Wednesday the Braves acquired right handed reliever Luis Ayala from the Orioles. Ayala will join the Braves bullpen which is missing set-up man Jonny Venters.
Ayala is making $1 million this season.
The Orioles received 24-year-old minor leaguer Chris Jones in the deal. Jones will be assigned to Double-A Bowie. Last year he had a 3.90 ERA in 60 innings of relief while at the Double-A level.
Atlanta acquired a reliever who pitched 75 innings last season finishing with a 2.64 ERA and a 51/15 K/BB ratio. In order to place Ayala on the roster the Braves are expected to designate Anthony Varvaro or Christian Martinez for assignment.
