Carlos Marmol blew a save against the Braves on Saturday night and it may have cost him the job as closer of the Cubs.

Marmol has struggled in each of his outings this season. Overall he has allowed five runs in 1 2/3 innings of work. In his first outing of the season Marmol was replaced by Kyuji Fujikawa. Two days ago he nearly blew a save against Pittsburgh.

On Saturday night Marmol allowed solo home runs to B.J. and Justin Upton allowing the Braves to rally from a 5-1 deficit to win the first two games of the series.

After the game Cubs manager Dale Sveum said that there would be discussions about the future of the Cubs closer.

“We’re definitely going to talk about it now,” Sveum said after the game. “Fujikawa struggled, too.”

Shawn Camp and James Russell are options to replace Marmol.
