Gearing up for off season Jake Peavy hires agent

The Chicago White Sox are expected to decline the $22 million option for 2013 on pitcher Jake Peavy’s contract. Instead the White Sox will pay the $4 million buyout.

Peavy has signed agent Jeff Berry to represent him for his next big league contract. Berry is also the agent for White Sox pitcher John Danks and former White Sox pitcher Mark Buehrle,

Peavy will be one of the more sought after free agents on the market after a return to form in 2012. Peavy finished the season with a 3.37 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP. Peavy was acquired midway though the 2009 season.

This season the former Cy Young winner started 32 games, his previous high with the White Sox was 19 from 2011.
