The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is at Talladeaga Superspeedway this weekend for the running of the Geico 500. This is the last of three races in the second round of the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
With the field of championship eligible drivers being trimmed to eight following the completion of this race one can expect tempers to run hot. Leading the field of 43 cars to the green flag for the start of Sunday’s race will be Brian Vickers in the No. 55 Aaron’s Toyota Camry.
Sunday’s Geico 500 will consist of 188 laps around the 2.66-mile Talladega Superspeedway for a total of 500.08 miles.
Coverage of Sunday’s race will air on ESPN beginning at 2:00 pm ET with the green flag set to wave at 2:19 pm ET.
Jamie McMurray won this event a year ago while Denny Hamlin was victorious when the Sprint Cup Series visited here in the spring.

Failing to make the race were Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Justin Allgaier and Joe Nemechek. The No. 29 car of Nemechek originally made the race but was later disqualified after inspection.
