Rising NASCAR talent Mason Maggio is set to return to the driver’s seat of the No. 66 Chevrolet Camaro for MBM Motorsports in the upcoming Ag-Pro 300 at Talladega Superspeedway, with Denssi Energy Pouches joining as the primary sponsor for the high-stakes event.
The 2.66-mile Talladega Superspeedway, known as the largest oval in NASCAR, presents a unique challenge with its high-speed drafting and pack racing. For Maggio and his team, it’s an ideal place to showcase performance and precision—and Denssi Energy Pouches’ fast-acting, crash-free energy solution aims to match that intensity.
“I am super excited to be back behind the wheel of the No. 66 for Carl Long and MBM Motorsports,” said the 20-year-old Maggio. “I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to be racing at Talladega. The guys brought a great car to this event last year. I am confident we have a fast racecar and thrilled to be working with the same team that gave me my first couple of starts in the Xfinity Series. Big thank you to Denssi Energy Pouches and all our amazing partners for the opportunity!”
Maggio’s return to MBM Motorsports builds on a growing relationship that began with his Xfinity Series debut in early 2023. Since then, he’s notched 12 series starts, including a standout performance at Atlanta Motor Speedway—another drafting track—where he earned his career-best finish to date.
MBM Motorsports owner Carl Long echoed Maggio’s enthusiasm, noting both the progress and potential the young driver brings to the table.
“Mason has shown me he is a quick study when put in new situations, be it a new car or new track,” said Long. “In our Talladega Truck race last year, Mason got collected in a crash and still managed to run on the lead lap and earn a solid finish. He can adapt very quickly.”
That Talladega Truck Series race in fall 2024 was a pivotal one for Maggio, where he piloted the Floridian Motorsports No. 21 under Long’s guidance as crew chief. He ran inside the Top 3 late in the event and secured a Top 20 finish, a personal best at the time.
The No. 66 entry heading to Talladega will be backed by strong technical and human resources. “We have put a lot of good people in place on short notice, including Hendrick engines, an experienced pit crew assembled by Phil Horton, and long-time spotter Steve Barkdoll on the roof,” added Long. “Our car has shown speed on plate tracks. It’s going to be tough to qualify in on speed, but I feel confident we can do it with our equipment.”
With no practice scheduled for the Xfinity Series at Talladega, teams will head straight into qualifying, making the first on-track laps all the more crucial. Qualifying takes place Friday, April 25 at 4:30 pm CT (5:30 pm ET) and will be streamed live via The CW App. The Ag-Pro 300 goes green on Saturday, April 26 at 3:00 pm CT (4:00 pm ET) with full race coverage on The CW.
As Maggio and MBM Motorsports prepare to tackle Talladega with the backing of Denssi Energy Pouches, fans can expect an exciting, high-energy performance from one of NASCAR’s most promising young drivers.
