As William Sawalich tried to navigate around the slower car of Katherine Legge, he would make contact.
Unfortunately Sawalich would not be the only car to take on damage as the No. 33 of returning Kasey Kahne was also damaged.

Kahne would make a pitstop to take on tires and repair damage to the right front of his car.

Originally Legge failed to qualify for the event but was able to start the race in place of teammate JJ Yeley.
