Beard Motorsports, in partnership with Fortify Building Solutions and driver Anthony Alfredo, will return to the NASCAR Cup Series for the Jack Link’s 500 at Talladega Superspeedway on April 27. This race will mark the team’s 31st Cup Series appearance since making its debut in 2017 under the leadership of the late Mark Beard Sr. Today, the team continues under the ownership of Linda Beard, with her children, Amie Beard-Deja and Mark Beard Jr., overseeing daily operations.
Beard Motorsports kicked off its ninth season in the Cup Series last month at Daytona International Speedway, where Alfredo and the No. 62 Fortify Building Solutions Chevrolet narrowly missed qualifying for the team’s seventh Daytona 500 appearance. The team finished as the second-highest among open teams in the second Duel race, just falling short of a spot in the season-opening race.
For the Jack Link’s 500, Fortify Building Solutions, part of the Cornerstone Building Brands family, will highlight its Hypersteel™ cold-formed buildings. These metal structures offer fast design and production turnaround, providing customers with an efficient and customized building solution.
“We share a heightened commitment with the Beard family to community, perseverance, and, well, speed,” said Heather Hollis, vice president of marketing at Cornerstone Building Brands. “Showcasing Hypersteel cold-formed buildings on the No. 62 Fortify Building Solutions Chevrolet helps us tell an exciting story about how customers can get a new customized metal building faster and easier. Our partnership with Anthony Alfredo underscores our dedication to speed and endurance.”
This race at Talladega will be Alfredo’s 42nd career Cup Series start and his fifth race with Beard Motorsports. Last year, Alfredo delivered a remarkable performance at Talladega, qualifying 24th and finishing sixth, which was the team’s best finish in 13 Cup Series appearances at the track. He even led four laps during the race, surpassing Brendan Gaughan’s eighth-place finish for Beard Motorsports in the 2019 GEICO 500.
“We’ll head to Talladega feeling like there is some unfinished business to take care of in more ways than one,” said Amie Beard-Deja, executive vice president of Beard Motorsports. “Despite the incredible preparation that is the hallmark of this team, things just didn’t go our way at Daytona. But that only strengthens our resolve as we prepare for Talladega. Anthony and the team did an incredible job last spring, and we’ll aim to build on that success.”
Alfredo is also excited about returning to Talladega. “I echo Amie’s sentiments when I say we definitely have some unfinished business next month at Talladega,” Alfredo said. “We were confident going into Daytona and executed flawlessly during our Duel, but we were outnumbered with the lack of drafting opportunities. I’m thankful to be back at Talladega with the Beard family and Fortify Building Solutions, and I’m excited to push for a result even better than last year’s sixth-place finish.”
Alfredo’s career-best finish in the Cup Series came last spring at Talladega with Beard Motorsports. He also has a strong record at the track in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, where he secured a third-place finish last April. Alfredo has made seven starts at Talladega in the Xfinity Series, and his only Craftsman Truck Series start at the track resulted in a 15th-place finish in October 2019.
With strong team preparation and a solid partnership with Fortify Building Solutions, Beard Motorsports and Alfredo are determined to make their mark at Talladega and continue building on their successful history at the superspeedway.
