Hailie Deegan managed a 14th place finish in her Indy NXT debut on Sunday in St. Petersburg.
Driving the No. 38 entry, Deegan finished on the lead lap in a race that finished under caution. Her move from last at the start to 14th had more to do with attrition of others than her driving as she was credited with just two passes on the day.
Deegan will find some success in her finish after being last in both practice sessions and qualifying as she shifts from stock cars to open wheel. Her next race in the series will be at Barber Motorsports Park on May 4.
