Martin Truex Jr. will start the penultimate race of the NASCAR Cup Series season from the pole after being the fast in qualifying for the Xfinity 500 at Martinsville Speedway.
Martinsville, the shortest and oldest track on the circuit, plays host to the final chance for drivers to earn entry into the championship race at Phoenix Raceway.
With wins Las Vegas and Homestead, Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell have already punched their ticket for the championship race. At least one spot in the playoffs will go to a driver via points.
Currently William Byron is 30 points ahead of the cutoff line while Ryan Blaney is 10. Tyler Reddick (-10), Martin Truex (-17), Denny Hamlin (-17) and Chris Buescher are all still eligible to make the playoffs.
