Sammy Smith will start on the pole for Saturday’s Xfinity Series race at Martinsville Speedway.
The driver of the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota will be joined on the front row by Justin Allgaier as drivers attempt to punch their ticket to the championship round next weekend at Phoenix Raceway.

Entering the Dead on Tools 250 three playoff spots remain. Sam Mayer clinched a spot in the championship race with a win last weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway while John Hunter Nemechek’s 44 point margin over the bubble makes his path easier this weekend. Cole Custer and Austin Hill both enter the weekend three points ahead of the cutoff over Justin Allgaier. The trio of Sammy Smith, Chandler Smith and Sheldon Creed are all in must win mode as they find themselves 49, 54, and 65 points below the cutoff.
