Denny Hamlin placed his No. 11 Toyota Camry on the pole for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Watkins Glen.
Hamlin’s lap of 1:10.392 gave him the pole ahead of William Byron. Last weekend’s winner at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, Michael McDowell will start third joined by Ty Gibbs who is seeking to make his way into the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs.
Chase Elliott who still finds himself out of the playoff picture and aiming for a win leading up to the start of the playoffs starts 15th.
The Go Bowling at the Glen will take place on Sunday at 3:00 pm ET. Coverage of the race airs on USA Network and the NBC Sports App. The race is scheduled for 90 laps with stages ending on laps 20 and 40.
