Christian Lundgaard scored the pole for the Grand Prix of Toronto.
A field of 27 NTT IndyCar Series drivers will take the green flag on the streets of Toronto on Sunday.
Lundgaard set the fast time while Scott McLaughlin who set the the second fastest time is facing a penalty for impeding others.
While the first group went out on slicks, the second group had to use wets and several drivers found themselves spinning around during the session.
Qualifying was full of surprises. Alex Palou did not advance out of the first round of qualifying and will start 15th for the race. Colton Herta, who had scored the last two poles this season and was the 2022 pole sitter, had been the fastest in Saturday’s practice session but he failed to advance out of the first round of qualifying.
The IndyCar Series will run 85 laps around the 1.786 mile track which features 11 turns. Coverage of the race will air on Peacock beginning at 1:30 pm ET.
