Max Verstappen began on the pole and after some back and forth with teammate Sergio Perez at the start was able to cruise to another Sprint Race win.
Verstappen finished 21.048seconds ahead of second place Sergio Perez. Carlos Sainz finished third.
In the closing laps many teams took off the wet tires and shifted to slicks in an effort to advance their position.
Conditions at the 10-turn Red Bull Ring were wet with drivers on wet tires and spray was visible coming off of cars throughout the 4.318 km (2.683 miles) laps.
