Mac Clark USF 2000 Race No. 2 at Mid-Ohio, Results

Mac Clark was in the right place at the right time as heartbreak hit Simon Sikes on a late race restart.

Sikes began the race on the pole joined by Clark. Elliott Cox was unable to make the race after an incident during Race No. 1 on Friday left his car heavily damaged.

With four laps to go Lochie Hughes made contact with Sikes on the restart and barrel rolled into the turn 2 gravel pit. Sikes would lose his rear wing in the contact and the lead to Clark.

The safety crew was able to remove Hughes damaged car and the race would have a one lap shootout. With the race returning green Sikes would come to the pits as Clark would be challenged by Race No. 1 winner Evagoras Papasavvas. Clark would end up with the win holding off Papasavvas by 0.2189 seconds with Sam Corry finishing third.

Sikes will bump his point lead up to four points over Hughes as he finished 18th one position ahead of his closest challenge in the championship standings. Nikita Johnson, Mac Clark and Evagoras Papasavvas will all move closer to Sikes though with one race remaining in the weekend.

The final of three USF 2000 races will take place later today at 5:25 pm. Fans hoping to watch that event can catch it on the USF Pro Championships YouTube channel.
