Alexander Rossi fastest in IndyCar warmup, Speed Chart

Alexander Rossi will start fifth in Sunday’s NTT IndyCar Series race at Road America but the driver of the No. 7 McLaren was again at the top of the speed chart in Sunday’s warmup session. Rossi was fastest in both Friday and Saturday’s practice session before advancing to Fast-Six Qualifying on Saturday but as the only driver who opted for used red tires he will start fifth.

Rossi’s time of 1:41.7917 bested Scott Dixon and Will Power, two drivers who had a big crash on Saturday. Pole sitter Colton Herta was 20th fastest.

Ahead of the Sonsio Grand Prix at Road America many in the field were still trying to figure out the newly paved Road America.

Early in the session Ryan Hunter-Reay would go off the track and stall his machine to bring out a red flag. With just under 15 minutes left in the session Romain Grosjean would spin in Canada corner. Several other drivers would have runoffs but managed to keep going avoiding another further delays in the session.

The NTT IndyCar Series will compete in the Sonsio Grand Prix at Road America on Sunday, June 18. Coverage of the 55 lap race will air on USA and Peacock beginning at 1:00 pm ET.
