Kasey Kahne was once one of the top young stars in NASCAR. After 15 years at the top level he stepped away at the age of 38.
Kahne won six races in 2006, his third year in the sport. He would score a win in seven of the next 12 seasons scoring two wins four times. His last win was in 2017 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Speaking with Autoweek, Kahne admitted he has thought about driving in NASCAR again.
“I think it would be great to run a stock car again,” Kahne said.
Kahne was hardly the same driver at the end of his career that fans grew to love in his early days in the sport. Now 43, Kahne says his body is in a better position to handle racing.
“I have done a lot since then and I think my body is in a much better place,” Kahne said. “It needed a rest. I needed to understand the things that I’ve gone through. It was a long process. I feel the way I should feel and that’s nice.
