Saints give QB four-year contract

The New Orleans Saints have signed quarterback Jake Haener to a four-year contract.

Haener was selected with the 127th pick this past draft out of Fresno State.

The Saints have Derek Carr as their starter but Haener could spell trouble for Jameis Winston on the depth chart.

During his three years as the starter for Fresno State Haener threw 67 touchdowns to 17 interceptions.

The Saints traded up to draft Haener in the fourth round, the earliest they have drafted a quarterback since taking Garrett Grayson in the third-round of 2015.

Earlier on Tuesday the Saints reached agreements with first-round pick Bryan Bresse.
