On Tuesday the Giants released catcher Gary Sanchez.
Sanchez exercised the opt-out clause in his contract after not being called up to the majors.
The now 30-year-old Sanchez was hitting just .164/.319/.182 with no homers, eight RBI and a 19/11 K/BB ratio over 69 plate appearances at Triple-A Sacramento.
A former Yankee who had two 30-plus home run season (2017, 2019) Sanchez has spent the last two seasons with the Twins before signing on with the Giants at the beginning of April.
