Chase Elliott starting 29th at Talladega

Chase Elliott will roll off 29th for Sunday’s running of the GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.

Elliott’s qualifying run will place the sports most popular driver in the middle of the field for the start of the race at the 2.66-mile track. The race at Talladega is the second for Elliott since his return from a snowboarding accident which forced him to miss six races.

The only Chevrolet to make the final found of qualifying was Elliott’s Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Larson who will start ninth. Teammates William Byron (18th), Alex Bowman (27th) will both join Elliott in the middle of the field for the start of the race.

Coverage of the GEICO 500 will air on FS1 beginning at 3:00 pm ET. Elliott and the rest of the NASCAR Cup Series will take the green flat at 3:20 pm ET for 188 laps.
