Cody Ware facing additional charges, Zane Smith driving No. 51 car

Cody Ware turned himself in on Friday to the Iredell County Detention Center for additional charges stemming from an incident that took place on April 3 when a woman reported a domestic assault after calling 911.

Ware’s bond for the new charges was placed at $5,000. Those charges include additional misdemeanor charges of assault inflicting serious injury and communicating threats.

Before being arrested on April 10, Rick Ware Racing announced that he would be stepping away from racing to focus on a personal matter. Matt Crafton filled in driving the No. 51 Ford Mustang at Bristol.

The team will now turn to the 2022 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion Zane Smith to drive the No. 51 car at Martinsville Speedway.
