Encarnacion becomes latest to join White Sox

The Chicago White Sox continue to add free agents.

Edwin Encarnacion became the latest player to join the White Sox this off-season agreeing to a one-year deal worth an estimated $12 million in total.

Jon Heyman and Yancen Pujols were the first to detail terms of Encarnacio’s deal.

While splitting time between the Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees, Encarnacio hit 34 home runs across 418 at-bats. He has 414 home runs in his career and an OBP of .352 for his career.

Encarnacio is expected to serve as the White Sox primary DH which will allow Jose Abreu to remain at first base. The two figure to alternate if Abreu is in need of a day off.

The White Sox have already added Nomar Maraza, Gio Gonzalez, Yasmani Grandal and Dallas Keuchel this off-season.
