In another un-newsworthy moment, Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett told reports that running back Ezekiel Elliott “looks good.”
The full line comes from ESPN’s Todd Archer:
Jason Garrett said Ezekiel Elliott had a good day in Wednesday’s practice. “He certainly looks good,” Garrett said. “Stepped right in there and did what we asked him to do.”
Go figure. A player who has been out six games due to a suspension who spent that time working out “looks good.” I guess water being wet will be the next newsworthy moment. It’s no surprise that Elliott is in shape. It’s also not a secret that the Cowboys are better with him on the field.
Elliott returns to the Cowboys for the final two games of the season. Currently outside of the playoff picture, the Cowboys need wins against the Seahawks and Eagles.
Elliott’s 2017 season has been a step back from his breakout rookie season. In his eight games this season he’s run 191 times for 783 yards averaging 4.1 yards – down a full yard for 2016 – with seven touchdowns. He’s added 19 catches for 210 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
The Cowboys will hope they can ride Elliott’s fresh legs to the playoffs and beyond.
