Jesse Litsch announced on Thursday that he was retiring form baseball.
The 29-year-old right hander carved out a five year career as a member of the Toronto Blue Jays from 2007 to 2011 compiling a 27-27 record, 4.16 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP.

Taken in the 24th round of the 2004 MLB Draft, Litsch rose quickly though the Blue Jays system and following his first two seasons in the league appeared to be an option at the front of the rotation for years to come.
A series of arm surgeries would take their toll on his career. He did not pitch at any level of baseball past the 2011 season and was said to be considering retirement last October.
