St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Adam Wainwright underwent an MRI on Wednesday morning after experiencing some discomfort around his elbow.
Wainwright threw 92 pitches across seven shutout innings on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak told KMOX that the ulnar collateral ligament is “completely fine” which is good news. Of course that does not mean that Wainwright will be able to make his next scheduled start which was set to be Monday against the New York Mets.

The Cardinals may wait a few days before making a decision on Wainwright.
Across 14 starts this season Wainwright has a NL high nine wins to go along with a 2.15 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP in 100 1/3 innings of work. A season after leading the league in innings pitched he is again tops in that statistical category.
