Will Power claimed the pole on Friday for the MAVTV 500 at Auto Club Speedway. Power lead the field of 25 to the green flag at the 2-mile oval.
The first three cars are all Penske Racing cars with Helio Castroneves and AJ Allmendinger second and third.
For the eighth season the final race of the season will decide who wins the IndyCar championship as Castroneves is locked into a close battle with Scott Dixon who will start seventh.
Dixon has racked up four race wins in 2013 compared to Castroneves’ one and is 25 points ahead entering Saturday’s race in Fontana.
Coverage of the IndyCar race at Auto Club Speedway will take place at 8:00 pm ET on NBC Sports Network. The race is scheduled to run 250 laps.
