Marcos Ambrose is close to re-signing with Richard Petty Motorsports. (RPM) Ambrose is in his second season with RPM and has won the road course event at Watkins Glen the last two seasons. The deal will keep Ambrose as a part of Ford Racing, something he has been closely linked to since his time in the Australian V8 Supercars series.
At Dover Ambrose responded “We’re all good” when asked about his contract next season. Ambrose has been sponsored by Stanley Tools/DeWalt in the majority of his races run in the No. 9 car.
Last week Richard Petty said that RPM would remain a part of Ford Racing. An official announcement is expected in the near future. The new deal with Ford will likely be a little smaller then their current one since Penske Racing will join Ford in 2013. Currently RPM receives technical assistance and parts from Roush Fenway Racing.
RPM has also been talking to Aric Almirola about returning to the seat of the No. 43 car next season.
