Elliott Sadler driver of the No. 2 One Main Financial Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing started on the pole for tonight’s U.S Cellular 250 and finished the night in the same position. Sadler found himself in victory lane for the fourth time this season.
It was an emotional win for Sadler after last weeks disappointment at the inaugural Brickyard when he was black flagged and had to take a stop and go pit stop due to a controversial restart. Sadler said “They will not take this championship away from me”. and he is proving it. His points lead over team mate Austin Dillion is now 18.
Team mate Dillion said, “I gave that one away tonight, tough to swallow.”, Dillion finished in 15th position.
This was the last week for ESPN’s “Dash 4 Cash”, the four highest finishing Nationwide drivers from the previous week compete for a $100,000 prize. All they had to do is be the best finisher out of the group. This weekend in Iowa, Sam Hornish Jr. took home that extra $100,000 and so did Tammy Altieri from Spokane, Washington; the fan who was chosen to also take home the prize money if Hornish won.
Hornish after playing double duty today, was back and forth between Iowa and Pocono for practice/qualifying and the race tonight. He will be fielding the No 22 Pennzoil Dodge for Penske Racing at the Pennsylvania 400 Sprint Cup Series race tomorrow. Fellow “Dash 4 Cash” drivers were Michael Annett who finished in the top five right behind Hornish Jr, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. who finished fifth, and Dillion who finished fifteenth.
Allgaier was second, followed by Hornish Jr., Annett, and Stenhouse Jr. to finish out the top five.
The only NASCAR regular in the race was Kurt Busch driving the No. 54 Monster Energy Toyota for Kyle Busch Motorsports. He finished in 17th position.
Brett Moffitt in his first career Nationwide start recorded a top ten finishing in 9th position.
