When Roger Penske’s cars take to the track in 2013 they will do so under the Ford name plate. Currently Penske fields cars for Brad Keselowski and A.J. Allmendinger. This will not be the first time Penske ran Fords as his cars were Ford from 1885-2002 before he made the switch to Dodge.
Currently Penske is the only full time team in the NASCAR garage running Dodge and it’s unclear if anyone will field one next season after this announcement. The #7 car of Robby Gordon also is a Dodge and receives parts from Penske.
Last season Keselowski (3) and Kurt Busch (2) combined to give Penske a total of 5 victories. With Brad Keselowski signed a long term deal this could also impact the manufacturer of his Camping World Truck Series team. Currently Keselowski is fielding Dodge Rams.
With Penske returning to Fords in 2013 it gives the manufacturer another top level team in addition to Roush Fenway Racing and Richard Petty Motorsports. There are also smaller teams that run Fords. Keselowski’s team has received sponsorship from Penske Truck Rental during some races in the series.
