The Chicago Bears have re-signed quarterback Jordan Palmer to a new one-year contract.
Palmer was third on the depth chart for the Bears last season but his re-signing could be taken as a sign that the Bears do not feel they will be able to re-sign free agent backup Josh McCown.
The Bears could opt to keep Palmer around. The 30-year-old Palmer has not appeared in a regular season game since 2010. He is a poor bet to replicate the success of McCown from a year ago.
