Patriots give two-year deal to Michael Hoomanawanui

The New England Patriots and tight end Michael Hoomanawanui have reached an agreement on a new two-year contract.

Hoomanawanui, 25, caught 12 passes for 136 yards and a touchdown. Those numbers came with Rob Gronkowski missing nine games and Aaron Hernandez in jail. They represent the high end of Hoomanawanui’s output and the Patriots are expected to pursue additional options at tight end in the draft and free agency.

Hoomanawanui has spent two seasons with the Patriots and spent two seasons with the St. Louis Rams prior to that.
