Finally: Colts waive Trent Richardson

The saga of Trent Richardson’s stay with the Indianapolis Colts ended on Thursday when the team cut the former first round pick.

Richardson was drafted by the Cleveland Browns after a stellar career at the University of Alabama. In September of 2013 he was traded to the Indianapolis Cotls for a first round pick in what proved to be one of the worst trades in recent memory.

During his stay with the Colts, Richardson never seemed to have a full grasp of the playbook averaging just 3.09 yards per carry and found himself falling behind on the dept chart to undrafted players such as Dan Herron.

The 24-year-old Richardson was due $3.184 million for the 2015 season but there is not going to be anyone silly enough to claim him at that price. He will now be looking for the league minimum as he tries to land a spot on someone’s 53-man roster.
