The Oakland Raiders will monitor the throwing elbow of quarterback Matt Schaub on a daily basis said head coach Dennis Allen on Sunday.
Schaub is battling a “sore elbow” which could explain his lack of arm strength thus far this preseason. Allen does not believe the issue to be serious.
Matt Schaub has elbow soreness, Dennis Allen says. He'll be evaluated daily. Allen says he's not concerned that it's a serious issue.

The Raiders have penciled Schaub as their starting quarterback since acquiring him prior to the NFL Draft. Second round pick Derek Carr has out played Schaub thus far but Allen and his staff have not given any indication that they are considering a change under center.
Perhaps the soreness experienced by Schaub could be enough of a reason for the Raiders to open the season with Carr under center. More than likely the Raiders will roll with Schuab early and then make a switch if things do not work out.
