Doug Pederson now front runner for Eagles job after Tom Coughlin drops out

Tom Coughlin has decided that the Eagles are not a fit for him and has removed his name from their search for a new head coach.

Reports circulated earlier that Coughlin and the Eagles were meeting with a deal possibly in the works so this is a bit of a surprise but not a complete shock after the ex-Giants head coach was extremely critical of the teams decision to fire Chip Kelly.

The exit of Coughlin from the search again returns Chiefs offensive coordinator Doug Pederson as the front runner for the vacancy. Pederson does have ties to the Eagles, most notably under Andy Reid before both left for the Chiefs.

Already the Eagles have missed out on Adam Gase, Hue Jackson and Ben McAdoo. With Pederson currently preparing for Saturday’s game against the Patriots, the Eagles may have to wait a bit longer to announce just who will head up their team in 2016.
