Raiders safety Charles Woodson will retire from the NFL at the end of the 2015 season.

“2015 is going to be my last season playing in the NFL,” Woodson said. “Was it a tough decision? Kind of in a way. But a couple weeks ago it hit me that this would be it. It’s important for me to let Raider Nation know now.”

Woodson spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Raiders before going to the Packers at the start of the 2006 season. He would spend seven seasons with the Packers before returning to the Bay Area.

At the time of his return to the Raiders most considered him an aging former star but Woodson returned to play at a high level.

Few defensive players have stronger career numbers than Woodson who has 65 career interceptions and 13 defensive touchdowns. He surely will head to Canton once it’s all said and done.
