Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning intends to return to the football field next season but his salary remains a sticking point.
Manning’s $19 million salary becomes guaranteed on March 9 and the Broncos would like to reduce it so they can gain further freedom from the salary cap.
The Broncos will have to franchise star receiver Demaryius Thomas which will reduce the $26 million they are currently under the cap.
Given the small window between now and salary becoming guaranteed these two sides should have something in place by next week.
Manning dealt with a thigh injury and illness down the stretch last season. He finished throwing for 4,727 yards while tossing 39 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.
