The New York Jets have hired Todd Bowles to be their new head football coach.

Bowles, 51, will replace Rex Ryan as the Jets head coach after spending the last two seasons as the defensive coordinator of the Arizona Cardinals. Previously Bowles served in the same capacity in Philadelphia and Miami.

The hiring of Bowles as a head coach is long over due but he will have his work cut out for him with the Jets. He will need to quickly find someone to head up the offense which will be tricky given that the Jets are void of many weapons.

Bowles was considered the front runner for the open head coaching spot in Atlanta a few days ago.
