The 49ers placed two players on injured reserve on Saturday ending their seasons.

Nose tackle Glenn Dorsey (biceps) had been inactive the last three weeks. Despite returning in mid-November from his injury he was unable to play in any games.

Dorsey played in all 16 games for the 49ers during the 2013 season picking up 41 tackles and recording two sacks. A former first-round pick of the Chiefs he is signed for the next two seasons.

The 49ers also placed Navorro Bowman on IR with a knee injury. He had just been activated from the PUP list earlier this week but was never expected to return to the field this season. The hope is that he will be fully healthy for training camp next year.

Taking the spots of Dorsey and Bowman the 49ers have promoted cornerback Marcus Cromartie and offensive lineman Andrew Tiller to the active roster.
