Wide receiver Demaryius Thomas has seen what leaving the Broncos can do to one’s statistics and is willing to take a discount to remain one of Peyton Manning’s leading targets going forward.
Appearing on NFL Total Access on the NFL Network, Thomas was asked about taking less money in order to stay with the Broncos next year.
“Of course, why not?” Thomas replied. “Peyton is one of the best in the game, and I’ve been blessed to have him as my quarterback. I learned so much of him. Denver, of course I gotta take my hats off to them, because they took a chance of drafting me in the first round.”
Thomas and everyone else has seen what leaving the Broncos can do. Eric Decker has produced nothing with the Jets becoming a punchline. Of course Thomas is much more talented tan Decker.
The Broncos also have tight end Julius Thomas facing free agency.
More likely the Broncos use the franchise tag on Julius Thomas and give Julius Thomas a long-term deal. We just have a hard time believing that Thomas would give the Broncos much of a discount.
