Titans hoping that bye week improves results with Mettenberger

Thrown into the starters role against Houston in Week 8, Zach Mettenberger looked miscast for much of the first half in a loss to Houston.

The second half against the Texans was a different story as Mettenberger was 20-of-28 for 237 yards and two touchdowns. Of course the game was well out of hand by then and even with that stat-line the Titans only managed 13 points in the second half.

With a bye week under his belt the Texans are hoping that Mettenberger and their offense can come to light in a Week 10 match-up against Baltimore.

“Getting the time during the bye week was good, because like I said, we got a lot of plays,” Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt said via The Tennessean. “(Mettenberger) got the majority of those, which is invaluable, and hopefully that’ll help us as we go forward.”

Whisenhunt knows that Sunday’s game in Baltimore against the Ravens will be no cake-walk for Mettenberger, even with an extra week of plays under his belt.

“This is going to be a tough situation, because this is a tough place to play. This will be the first game where he’s had to deal with the noise … and hopefully having gotten a week of work in as the starter, having played in a game, will help him be better prepared for that.”
