Andre Johnson says fumble was cause of Texans loss

Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson believes his fumble is the reason that the team dropped a close Thursday night game to the Indianapolis Colts.

“It cost my team,” said Johnson after the game at NRG Stadium, via the Houston Chronicle. “I accept full responsibility for it. It’s probably why we lost (Thursday night).”

Johnson committed his second fumble in six games on Thursday night.

“I just tried to make something happen before really protecting the ball. … I wish I could play again (Friday) to change that and redeem myself,” Johnson said.

The fumble of Johnson was challenged but ultimately ruled to be a fumble. Former referee Mike Caray said on CBS’s coverage of the game that he believed it was never a catch as Johnson never secured the ball.

While Johnson may take the blame for the loss the Texans actually got the ball back with more than enough time to score a go-ahead touchdown but quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick fumbled.

The end result is the Colts back at the top of the AFC South and on their way to another division title.
