The placement of Morris Claiborne on injured reserve has created a roster spot on the Cowboys for Keith Smith.
Claiborne injured his knee in last weekends win over the Saints. The corner suffered a torn patella-tendon which will cost him the rest of the 2014 season. He is owed a guaranteed $2.607 million next season in the final year of his rookie deal.
In order to return the roster to 53 players the Cowboys have promoted linebacker Smith from the practice squad. This will mark his second stint with the team this season.
The Cowboys have a home game against the Texans this Sunday.
