With Teddy Bridgewater dealing with an ankle injury and Matt Cassel on injured reserve, signs are pointing to Christian Ponder getting the start for the Minnesota Vikings in Thursday night’s game against the Green Bay Packers.

The Vikings are on a short week after a surprising upset of the Atlanta Falcons. That does not bode well for the ankle of Bridgewater or for the Vikings potential offensive output in this game as Ponder will be thrust into the lineup with just two days of practice.

Ponder appeared in nine games last season finishing the year on the bench. With a guaranteed salary for this season the Vikings opted to keep him on the roster. In nine games last season he completed 63.6-percent of his passes for 1,648 yards and seven touchdowns but also threw nine interceptions and fumbled seven times.

The Vikings are 9 point underdogs against the Packers in Lambeau Field.
