Former Houston Texans starter Case Keenum has been claimed off waivers by the St. Louis Rams.
Expendable following the teams acquisition of Ryan Mallett, Keenum never had much of a chance of beating out Ryan Fitzpatrick for the staring job. The Texans will go with three quarterbacks on their 53-man roster with Tom Savage joining Mallett and Fitzpatrick.
With the Rams, Keenum becomes the backup to Shaun Hill. Given Keenum’s ability and Hill’s age it would not be a surprise to see the Rams make a quick switch should the veteran struggle out of the box.
Last year Keenum finished with nine touchdowns and six interceptions in eight starts on a Texans team which was dealt 14 straight losses to close out the season.
