Derek Carr will start the season opener for the Oakland Raiders.
After acquiring Matt Schaub from the Houston Texas, the Raiders went on to draft Carr in the second round of the NFL Draft. Without hesitation the rookie began putting the heat on Schaub.
Carr more than earned the right to start for the Raiders in their season opener. He tossed three touchdowns in the Raiders preseason finale against the Seattle Seahawks.

Schaub underwhelmed in the preseason showing a lack of distance on this throws. He later was diagnosed with tendinitis paving the way for Carr to start.
The Raiders will play against the New York Jets in Week 1 which means Carr should have a few chances to pick way at one of the worst secondaries in the league.
