Rex Grossman has been cut by the Cleveland Browns.

On Sunday the Browns let go of the veteran Grossman who had been signed by the team late in preseason in part due to his relationship with offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan.

With Brian Hoyer slated to be the starter to open the 2014 season the Browns have Johnny Manziel backing him up. There really was no upside to keeping Grossman on the roster.

The 22nd overall pick in 2003, the veteran of 11 seasons has throw 56 touchdowns and 60 interceptions last seeing time as a starter with the Washington Redskins in 2012 who had Shanahan as their offensive coordinator.

It is quite possible that Grossman gets no calls.
